Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) today unveiled a couple of orders in Italy for a combined capacity of 79 MW.
The first one was awarded by a unit of German diversified group BayWa AG (ETR:BYW6) and concerns the 48-MW San Lupo wind project in the province of Benevento, southwestern Italy. The BayWa subsidiary, Eolica San Lupo Srl, has contracted Vestas to supply and install V117-3.45 MW turbines in Load Optimised Mode.
The Danish firm said it expects to make the deliveries by the end of the year so that the project can be commissioned in the first quarter of 2019. This contract came with a 15-year full scope Active Output Management (AOM 5000) service agreement.
Also today, Vestas said it had received an Italian order to supply and install nine units of the same turbine model with a combined capacity of 31 MW. It did not disclose the name of the customer. Turbine delivery under the second deal is expected in the final quarter of 2018, with commissioning scheduled for the second quarter of 2019.
Both projects were awarded in Italy’s last energy auction.
Vestas currently has over 450 MW of wind turbines being installed in Italy, including three projects developed with BayWa, said Rainer Karan, general manager for Vestas in Italy, Greece and the MENA region.
