January 2 (Renewables Now) - Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said on Friday it has signed a 32-MW extension deal with Sardeolica SrL for the Ulassai wind park in Italy.

With this deal, Vestas’ global order intake in 2018 reaches 12,014 MW, surpassing the previous year's record of 11,176 MW, the company said in a statement, noting that there are still some unannounced orders from the fourth quarter of 2018. In regards to its Italian portfolio, the Danish firm has more than 4 GW of total capacity.

Under the above-mentioned deal, Vestas will supply and install nine V117-3.45 MW turbines in 3.6-MW power optimised mode to expand the existing 48-turbine plant. Six of the new machines will have a hub height of 91.5 metres while that of the other three will be 116.5m, the firm said.

Vestas expects to make the deliveries in the second quarter of 2019, while commissioning should come by the third quarter of the same year, it noted.
