Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has secured two deals in the US for 48 MW of production tax credit (PTC) qualifying turbine components.
All turbines under the contracts qualify for 80% of the PTC incentive under the 2015 bipartisan PATH act, Vestas said on Thursday without disclosing the names of its clients and respective projects at the request of the customer.
Under the first order, the Danish firm will deliver 28 MW of components compatible with its 4-MW turbine platform. The other deal calls for the supply of 20 MW of components for its 2-MW platform.
Vestas noted that the PTC phase-down terms passed by Congress in 2015 have resulted in almost USD 50 billion (EUR 41.8bn) of investment in the US and the creation of tens of thousands of jobs. Currently, the US wind industry employs more than 102,000 people. The company added that each American-made wind turbine supports 30 jobs over its lifetime through the production, supply chain, construction and operation.
Earlier this week, Vestas unveiled an order for 32 MW of wind turbines in the US, also qualifying for 80% of the of PTC.
