December 7 (Renewables Now) - Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said today a new Chinese customer has selected its turbines for a 77-MW project in Dezhou city in Shandong Province, eastern China.

Vestas will supply 35 V110-2.0 MW turbines in 2.2 MW power optimised mode for the wind park, which is the first wind energy project of the unnamed customer. Delivery and commissioning are scheduled to commence in the first half of next year.

The wind power plant will use Vestas' high tower solutions with a hub height of 137 metres (449.5 ft). "With another high tower project, Vestas’ technical solutions continue to deliver a strong business case in the very competitive Chinese market and strengthen our capability to build trust with new customers," said Kebao Yang, Vestas Group senior vice president and president of Vestas China.

The order, which includes a two-year service contract, brings Vestas' announced order intake in China this year to more than 700 MW.
