November 29 (Renewables Now) - Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) today said it has secured a deal from an unnamed client to deliver 220 MW of wind turbine capacity in the US.

Under the contract, the Danish manufacturer will supply and install 100 units of its V120-2.2 MW machines. It expects to start delivering the equipment in the third quarter of next year, while the wind park is scheduled to become operational in the last three months of 2019. Vestas explained that, at the request of the customer, the name of the particular project will not be disclosed.

Following the contract, Vestas’ order intake this year has crossed the 10-GW threshold, the company said, adding that the total includes orders from new markets such as Panama, Kazakhstan, Bolivia and Senegal.

According to the statement, Vestas has installed 97 GW of wind turbine capacity globally. Earlier this week, it unveiled a deal to build and equip a 52-MW wind park in Jordan.
