October 25 (Renewables Now) - Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said on Tuesday it has received a firm and unconditional order in the US for 136 MW from two different turbine platforms.

The company will supply both V136-3.45 MW machines in Power Optimized Mode to 3.6 MW, and V110-2.0 MW turbines. It noted that this would be the introduction of the V136 unit in the US.

The contract covers supply and commissioning, as well as a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM5000) service deal. Deliveries are scheduled to start in the third quarter of next year. Commissioning is planned for the following quarter.

The total size of the project is 150 MW, to be reached with a total of 47 turbines. This includes previously purchased Production Tax Credit (PTC)-eligible components. At the customer’s request, Vestas did not disclose its name or that of the project.
