November 23 (Renewables Now) - Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has signed a multi-year framework to continue and expand its partnership with US wind blade specialist TPI Composites Inc (NASDAQ:TPIC), the companies said on Wednesday.
Vestas has partnered with TPI since 2014. Currently TPI is supplying a range of blades for Vestas’ 2 MW and 4 MW platforms as well as the EnVentus platform. According to the announcement, TPI will continue to supply blades from its existing global manufacturing footprint. At the same time, it will optimise the production setup in existing facilities and assess new locations for potential growth in strategic markets.
The companies said they are exploring collaboration opportunities for the V163-4.5 MW and V236-15.0 MW turbines and examining the best manufacturing and production location setup for these new blades.
The partnership demonstrates Vestas' continued focus on optimising its supply chain by building strategic partnerships and leveraging its partners’ capabilities and global footprint, according to the statement.
