January 27 (Renewables Now) - Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has formed a strategic partnership on transport and logistics with local sector player DSV Panalpina A/S (CPH:DSV), it was announced today.

The Danish transport and logistics services provider has agreed to execute and manage Vestas’ general freight and special project transportation, both inbound and outbound. The goal of the partnership is to simplify Vestas’ global transportation setup and generate economies of scale and efficiencies for both parties, the announcement says.

“Combined with the increasing size of wind turbines, the global demand for wind energy is making logistics and transportation more complicated and we must therefore scale our business efficiently,” said Henrik Andersen, Vestas Group president and CEO.

The agreement also includes a mutual commitment to reduce and eliminate transport and logistics-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, in line with Vestas’ previously unveiled pledge to become a carbon-neutral company by 2030.
