VBMS confirmed today it has been awarded the inter-array cabling contract for the 112-MW Albatros offshore wind farm in Germany.
The company, a unit of Dutch dredging and offshore contractor Royal Boskalis Westminster NV (AMS:BOKA), has been engaged by EnBW Albatros GmbH to supply, install, bury, terminate and test 19 pieces of 33-kV inter-array cables at the wind farm. It said cable installation works are planned for 2019 after the installation of 79 inter-array cables for the nearby 497-MW EnBW Hohe See offshore wind farm.
Under the Albatros contract, VBMS will also interconnect both wind farms.
German utility Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (ETR:EBK), better known as EnBW, announced final investment decision for the Albatros project last week. It plans to build both Albatros and EnBW Hohe See by 2019 as a joint project in the so-called "exclusive economic zone" in the North Sea.
