US to grant USD 38m to geothermal technology projects
Sep 9, 2011 - The US Department of Energy (DOE) yesterday said it would award USD 38 million (EUR 27.5m) to projects seeking to advance the development of geothermal energy technology and reduce the cost of such energy.
The department has selected 32 projects in 14 states to receive financing in three years.
The projects will develop and test new ways to locate geothermal resources and improve resource characterisation drilling, and reservoir engineering techniques. They will provide feasibility studies before moving to prototyping and validation.
