US Maico working on deal with German wind turbine firm - report

(ADPnews) - Sep 28, 2010 - Kansas-based steel producer Maico Industries Inc is working on a deal to fabricate structural poles for a German wind turbine maker, the Wichita Business Journal reported last week.

The Salina-domiciled Maico Industries is owned by a German, Paul Mai, who met the wind turbine manufacturer during the Husum WindEnergy 2010 trade show held on September 21-25 in Germany.

"It looks very promising that they can structure a joint venture to do something in Kansas. That was a very tangible result," said Marlin Penner of NAI John T Arnold Associates Inc, who is travelling with the Kansas group.

The group is there to try to get European manufacturers of wind turbines to take a look at Wichita, Kansas, when they consider opening a production facility in the US.
