US DOE to grant USD 6m to tribal clean energy projects
Jul 25, 2011 - The US Department of Energy (DOE) last week said it would grant USD 6 million (EUR 4.2m) in funding to clean energy projects on tribal lands in the US over two years.
The move is part of the DOE's goal to support tribal energy development, it said.
The DOE has selected 31 projects to receive the money.
The funding will be awarded in three project areas including USD 2.1 million for energy efficiency feasibility studies, USD 2.1 million for first-step projects and USD 2 million for energy efficiency installations on tribal lands.
Later this summer, the DOE will announce another group of projects to receive funding for tribal renewable energy projects.
