Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said today it has received an order to supply turbines for the 228-MW Lal Lal Wind Farm project in Victoria, Australia.
The announcement was made soon after global infrastructure investor InfraRed Capital Partners and Ontario-based private equity firm Northleaf Capital Partners said separately they have each bought a 40% stake in the project company. The third partner in the scheme is Macquarie Capital.
Denmark-based Vestas will deliver 60 units of its V136-3.6 MW turbines in 3.8 MW power optimised mode for this project. It said it plans to source towers locally in order to create jobs in Victoria. More specifically, local firm Keppel Prince Engineering will supply 80 tower sections.
Deliveries of the turbines are expected to start in the final quarter of this year, with commissioning scheduled to take place by the third quarter of 2019, according to Vestas.
The contract includes a 30-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service deal.
