July 8 (Renewables Now) - Falck Renewables SpA (BIT:FKR) said on Thursday it has broken ground on 59 MW of wind projects in Central Finland.
Specifically, the company has commenced work on the Mustalamminmaki and Koiramaki projects, which it acquired in a ready-to-build state last November from Danish wind and solar developer European Energy. The projects are located in the municipality of Karstula and represent Falck's entry into the Finnish market.
Scheduled to start operations by the end of 2023, the two wind parks should be able to generate some 168 GWh of clean electricity per year, enough to meet the demand of about 20,000 local homes.
Denmark-based Stenger & Ibsen Construction (SIC) was selected as the main contractor for civil and electrical works.
Also this week it was announced that Germany's Nordex SE will supply the turbines and be in charge of the equipment maintenance for a 10-year period.
