UK energy regulator Ofgem has selected EDF Energy to take on the remaining customers of Solarplicity Supply Ltd with effect from August 17.
Solarplicity transferred a large number of its customers to Toto Energy in July, but some 7,500 domestic and less than 500 business customers remained with it. After the 100% renewable electricity supplier ceased trading earlier in August, Ofgem had to select a replacement.
The energy watchdog said Friday that EDF has been chosen in an appointment process that south to get the best deal for customers.
Solarplicity previously stated that “the large number of small energy suppliers and the harsh way the market is regulated make it difficult for companies like Solarplicity to survive.”
