Pavegen Systems Ltd, the developer of a flooring technology that generates power from footfall, has raised GBP 1 million (USD 1.5m/EUR 1.4m) so far in its crowdfunding campaign, which started on May 21.
The UK clean-tech start-up targeted GBP 750,000, which it said would help it move a step closer towards commercialisation of the technology and mass production. Pavegen is working to reduce the cost of its tiles to equate that of standard flooring.
The company’s campaign on Crowdcube has attracted 812 investors as of early on Tuesday, and it continues. The biggest single investment amounted to GBP 85,000.
So far, Pavegen has completed over 100 projects in 30 countries globally. Its client list includes the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Schneider Electric, Kia Motors, Samsung and Coca-Cola, among others.
