June 8 (Renewables Now) - The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) announced today that Continental Europe transmission system operators (TSOs) have confirmed the technical pre-conditions for the gradual opening of electricity trade with Ukraine.

ENTSO-E said in a statement that Ukrainian TSO Ukrenergo is working together with peers in Continental Europe to fully implement these technical conditions in order to guarantee the security and stability of the extended power system.

As previously reported, Ukraine and Moldova completed in mid-March an emergency synchronisation of their power grids with the Continental European network in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Ukrenergo then sent a request to fellow TSOs across Europe at the end of April, seeking to enable electricity trade with neighbouring power systems. That request has been addressed positively on June 7.
