UK govt gives nod to Dalkia's 53-MW biomass project in Yorkshire
Dec 22, 2011 - UK Energy Minister Charles Hendry has given the green light to a 53-MW biomass power project in Yorkshire, northern England, developed by Dalkia Plc.
The power plant will burn some 360,000 tonnes of waste wood a year, producing enough power for some 55,000 local households, the Department of Energy and Climate Change said in a statement today. The facility will be build at a former airfield in Pollington. During construction, the project will open 200 working positions, while 135 jobs will be created during operation.
Dalkia is a unit of French utilities Veolia Environnement (EPA:VIE) and EDF (EPA:EDF).
