September 17 (Renewables Now) - It has been confirmed that the results of the third Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction in the UK, expected to contract 6 GW of renewables, will be announced on September 20 as previously planned.

National Grid's EMR Delivery Body said so on Monday, adding that the notifications of results will be issued before 0800 local time on its portal and also on the website of the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

The CfD allocation round was open to less-established technologies such as offshore wind, geothermal power, remote island wind, and marine power, among others. It was delayed a bit by Banks Renewables, which lodged a judicial review application challenging the UK government’s decision to leave onshore wind out of the auction round.

September 20 was set as the date for the results announcement in an updated timeline, published in August.
