UK-based BMT Nigel Gee wins design service contract from Dutch Seazip Offshore
(ADPnews) - Dec 21, 2010 - BMT Nigel Gee Ltd, part of UK-based maritime engineering company BMT Group, said Friday it has been assigned the design and development of four wind farm support catamarans for Dutch Seazip Offshore Services BV.
No financial details were disclosed.
BMT is already providing design service for the construction of the vessels, which has started at Veka Shipbuilding's shipyard Jongert. The first vessel scheduled for delivery by the middle of next year.
The catamarans will be 19.5 metres (63.98 ft) long and will have a beam of 7 metres. They will be equipped with the new Turbine Access System (TAS), jointly developed by BMT and compatriot engineering firm Houlder. TAS is expected to provide safer transfer capability to the wind turbines.
