April 13 (Renewables Now) - ScottishPower Renewables said Monday it has selected Turner Iceni to provide crew transfer vessels for the construction and commissioning of the 714-MW East Anglia One offshore wind farm.

The contract for the Lowestoft-based firm is worth over GBP 4 million (USD 5.7m/EUR 4.6m) and envisages support all-year-round, with up to three vessels in use. More specifically, the scope includes the transfer of light plant, tools, spares and personnel to and from the wind turbines, offshore substation and met mast locations.

“We are now only a few weeks away from the first components of the windfarm being installed offshore on the East Anglia One project,” said Charlie Jordan, project director.

The wind farm will use 102 pieces of 7-MW turbines by Siemens, installation of which is to start by 2019 roughly 30 miles off the Suffolk coast. The park is planned to be fully operational in 2020.

ScottishPower Renewables is a unit of Spanish utility Iberdrola (BME:IBE).
