Turkish firm plans 10-MW wind project in Antalya province

Sep 12, 2012 - Turkish firm Yigit Ruzgar Enerjisinden Elektrik Uretim Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Sirketi plans to install a 10-MW wind farm in the Kumluca town district of the country's southwestern province of Antalya.

The company has already held a public hearing on the project with local residents and media, the Municipality of Kumluca said in a statement on its website yesterday.

Yigit Ruzgar expects the proposed wind farm to produce some 41.6 GWh of power, enough to offset some 25,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions a year. The project is estimated to cost some EUR 12 million (USD 15.5m) and return on investment is expected in 10 years, the company's owner and general director Goknur Atalay said.

Atalay added that the location was selected after two years of studies.
