Turkish Boydak to build 45 MW wind farm - report

Aug 16, 2011 - Turkish furniture group Boydak Holding will invest EUR 85 million (USD 122.5m) to build a 45 MW wind farm in Turkey's Marmara region as part of its strategy to expand its energy operations, national daily Zaman reported over the weekend.

The company has obtained a licence for its wind project in Silivri from the Turkish Energy Regulatory Authority (EPDK) and will start construction in the coming days, according to board member Yusuf Boydak.

Boydak Holding entered the energy sector last year making a joint investment with Turkish diversified group Atac Group in 11 hydropower plants. The furniture supplier has allocated USD 1 billion for energy investments and plans to have 500 MW of power generation capacity from diverse energy sources. Its investment plans include the solar power sector, the daily said.
