Turkey's Zorlu eyes Toshiba equipment for 3 geothermal projects

Toshiba Corp (TYO:6502) said on Monday it has concluded a package deal agreement (PDA) for the supply of steam turbines and generators (STGs) for Turkish geothermal power projects being developed by Zorlu Energy Group.

The Japanese diversified group has won preferential negotiation rights for the supply of the equipment for three projects that could be realised by October 2020. These include the Kizildere IV, Tekke Hamam and Kizildere V schemes, each with an expected output of 40 MW.

Toshiba, however, will begin exclusive discussions with the unit of Zorlu Holdings only after the Turkish firm has concluded an investigation covering steam flow, pressure levels and other aspects, at each site.

The two parties entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in January 2016 that outlines a partnership in the construction of geothermal, thermal and hydropower plants. They have successfully been collaborating on Unit 1 and 2 of the Kizildere III and Alasehir geothermal power plants.
