(SeeNews) - Mar 12, 2013 - The University of Technology in Delft, the Netherlands, today opened its new Wind Energy Institute DUWIND 2.0.
The university has three main goals -- to expand wind energy education, to set up new research projects in this sector and to enhance its cooperation with industrial partners.
TU Delft's existing Interfaculty Institute DUWIND, which was established in 2000, has 40 doctoral candidates and 25 scientific staff working on wind power studies and research. The collaborations in DUWIND have so far resulted in several innovations as well as a wind turbine without a gearbox, rotor blade profiles, which were widely applied by manufacturers and a self-regulating wind turbine that can adapt to the wind speed and direction.
