July 19 (Renewables Now) - German municipal utilities group Trianel on Wednesday said it has acquired a 9-MW repowered wind farm in Germany’s Lower Saxony state from compatriot ABO Wind AG.

Located in the municipality of Wenzendorf, Harburg district, the Wennerstorf wind park consists of two Nordex turbines of 4.5 MW each that were installed to replace four older machines totalling 5 MW. The Nordex N-149/4.0-4.5 hardware was powered up in October and December 2018 and is expected to generate around 27 million kWh of electricity annually. The output of the plant will be enough to meet the demand of about 8,000 homes.

ABO Wind will continue to be in charge of the wind farm’s technical management following the sale, Trianel said.

The wind asset was purchased by Trianel’s subsidiary Trianel Erneuerbare Energien GmbH & Co KG (TEE), which has been formed by the German group in partnership with 37 regional utilities to invest in renewable energy. Wenzendorf is the first Lower Saxony wind farm in its portfolio, which has now expanded to 190 MW.
