US energy supply and related services provider Direct Energy yesterday announced that Tractor Supply Company has signed a three-year deal for 100% renewable energy in Virginia.
With the help of Direct Energy, the rural lifestyle retailer will “green” the power supply for more than 30 store facilities in the state. The power purchase agreement (PPA) is effective from February.
Direct Energy is able to offer 100% renewable energy to businesses in Virginia by sourcing electricity and renewable attributes from local projects. The company is a unit of UK energy services company Centrica plc (LON:CNA). In November, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved Direct’s sale to NRG Energy Inc (NYSE:NRG) and the deal is seen to be concluded early next year.
Tractor Supply has more than 1,900 stores in the US.
