Town council backs International Power 100-MW wind farm in Canada
Sep 12, 2012 - A 100-MW wind farm worth CAD 350 million (USD 360m/EUR 280m) planned by International Power Canada got support from the town council of Lakeshore, Canada on Tuesday, daily The Windsor Star reported.
The wind farm proposal was backed in a six-to-one vote. Counsellor Steve Bezaire voted "against" saying he could not make a decision without enough information as the exact location of the 40 wind turbines was yet to be determined.
The proposed project is to be located near the Belle River community. International Power Canada intends to submit an application for the project with the Ontario Power Authority in February.
International Power Canada is part of UK-based International Power Plc, which was acquired by French utility GDF Suez earlier this year.
