Toshiba to build power engineering centre in Japan
Nov 27, 2012 - Japanese group Toshiba Corp (TYO:6502) said Tuesday it would start building a thermal, hydro and renewable power engineering centre in the Japanese city of Yokohama.
Located at the company's Keihin product operations, the centre will serve as a global hub for main manufacturing-related functions and will conduct engineering, design, procurement and production control, Toshiba said. Construction will start next month. The facility is designed to house 1,500 engineers and is scheduled to become operational in January 2014.
Toshiba said the centre was to help the company respond to expected growing demand for power generation systems worldwide, especially for thermal and hydro power equipment in the emerging markets.
