Philippine company Energy Development Corp (PSE:EDC) said today it has completed repair and commissioning works on the 77-MW unit 2 of the Malitbog geothermal plant and that it is now in commercial operation.
Unit 2 at the plant tripped on August 17, 2016 following a flashover inside the high voltage terminal box. The incident happened during a 30-day scheduled maintenance outage. As the unit was offline, the incident did not impact the grid and no injuries were sustained by any of the personnel involved, the company said at the time.
The 232.5-MW Malitbog facility is part of the 650-MW Leyte complex.
