to-the-point: Nordsee Ost wind park gets mandatory certificate

The 295-MW Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm in Germany, operated by Innogy SE, the soon-to-be-listed subsidiary of RWE AG (ETR:RWE), has been awarded full project certificate by DNV GL.

The Norway-based testing and advisory company said last week the certification is in line with the standards of the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH). Project certification of wind farms is mandatory in Germany.

The Nordsee Ost park came online in May 2015. The 48 Senvion turbines, installed near the island of Heligoland, are expected to produce enough power for 320,000 German homes.

Innogy says it ranks third worldwide in terms of installed offshore wind capacity as of March 2016. It may raise up to EUR 5 billion (USD 5.6bn) in its initial public offering (IPO), to be completed this week.
