to-the-point: Navantia delivers 1st foundations for Wikinger project
Spanish state-owned shipbuilder Navantia said today it has delivered the first jacket type foundations for Iberdrola's (BME:IBE) 350-MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The company said that the foundations were fabricated at the Fene shipyard by Navantia-Windar, which is a joint venture with wind tower manufacturer Windar. Navantia expects to ship the remaining components and fulfil its contract with Iberdrola next month.
The EUR-1.4-billion (USD 1.54bn) wind farm, which will use 5-MW Adwen turbines, is expected to become operational in late 2017.
