August 16 (Renewables Now) - The fourth call of the EU-backed MaRINET2 initiative launched on Thursday, allowing offshore renewable energy technology developers to compete for free access to a network of testing and research facilities.

The EUR-10.5-million (USD 11.6m) initiative awarded EUR 3.5 million in free testing access to nearly 100 users in its first three calls. The fourth call is open until September 30 to developers of offshore wind, wave and tidal energy at system and component level.

As part of the first MaRINET project, more than 700 weeks of access was given to 178 projects and 800 companies over the 4.5-year initiative.
