May 31 (Renewables Now) - Spanish renewable power marketer Gesternova SA has won a contract to supply electricity to food markets in Madrid throughout 2019, the company announced this week.

The customer is MercaMadrid SA, a food wholesaler and manager of produce markets in the Spanish capital. Gesternova will be responsible for supplying some 3.6 GWh this year to power MercaMadrid’s facilities with 100% renewables. As a result, MercaMadrid’s buildings will avoid emissions of 936 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) this year.
