November 29 (SeeNews) - Sany Group Co Ltd of China will be investing USD 2 billion (EUR 1.9bn) in the Indian state of Gujarat between 2017 and 2020 for wind, solar, housing and smart city projects.

Company chairman Liang Wengen and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) outlining the planned investments, among which hundreds of megawatts of wind projects and a wind turbine production plant.

In the autumn of 2015 Sany said it would build some 2 GW of wind projects in India and it recently reaffirmed these plans, also revealing its intention to make wind turbines in the country.

“India will become Sany's second global wind power manufacturing center after China,” the company said in October.
