to-the-point: Camborne selects Tesla storage for UK solar farm

UK-based firm Camborne Energy Storage said today it will install a Powerpack energy storage system by Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) at a solar farm in Somerset, Camborne.

The company says this would be the very first grid-scale Powerpacks project in Europe. The solar-plus-storage facility will supply enough power to meet the needs of more than 500 households.

Camborne has over 100 MWh of energy storage projects in the UK in planning. It has entered into an exclusivity agreement with a major UK landowner, with land to be used specifically for energy storage. The company did not mention specific locations.

Tesla released the Powerpack fully integrated battery storage solution for business and utility application in the spring of 2015.
