to-the-point: Biodico to open fully sustainable biofuel plant in California
California-based bioenergy firm Biodico will open this week the world’s first biofuel plant that operates solely on renewable heat and power generated on-site, it said in a statement today.
The Biodico Westside facility in California’s San Joaquin Valley has the capacity to produce up to 20 million gallons (75.7 million litres) of biodiesel per year using a variety of feedstock. It features advanced sensors for real-time and remote monitoring that allows for complete system automation.
“Our new facility in the San Joaquin Valley produces economically and environmentally viable biobased fuel and energy for local farmers and truckers, and creates new jobs in the community,” said Biodico’s founder and president, Russ Teall.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony at the site will be held on Friday.
