October 8 (SeeNews) - The Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) at the University of Technology Sydney has presented its first set of maps depicting the optimal locations for new renewable energy plants in Australia.

Using sample data from local electricity service providers, the maps unveil both network constraints and planned investment. They are hosted on a platform and a project website, designed specifically for the purpose. The project can help encourage green energy investment by pointing out where renewables can add the most value in the national electricity market, ARENA's active CEO, Ian Kay, noted.

In a press release on Thursday, the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) said it has backed the AUD-1-million (USD 717,000/EUR 637,000) mapping project with AUD 453,000 in financing.
