The Alternative Resource Energy Authority (AREA) has opened the 9.2-MW Ellershouse wind park in Nova Scotia, Canada, it was announced on Friday.
The wind farm in West Hants consists of four Enercon E-92 turbines capable of generating enough power for about 2,800 Nova Scotian homes. Developed by Minas Energy, it is the first wind project in the Canadian province to be realised independently of the local power authority or a governmental incentive programme.
Bullfrog Power will buy a portion of the electricity generated by the plant, while AREA will provide the rest to its communities, the companies said in a joint statement.
