Dec 31, 2014 - Greek utility Terna Energy (ATH:TENERGY) has ordered 73.2 MW of wind turbines from Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) for a project on the Agios Georgios island off the coast of Attica.
The Danish wind turbine manufacturer announced the contract today, saying it will supply and erect nine of its V90-3.0 MW and 14 of its V112-3.3 MW machines. A five-year Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 agreement is also in place.
Vestas expects to deliver the turbines in the third quarter of 2015. The Agios Georgios wind farm is seen to begin electricity generation by the end of 2015 and to be fully-commissioned in the second quarter of 2016.
The plant will be transporting the produced power via a dedicated submarine cable to "a major demand centre in Attica".
