Tekmar to supply cable protection systems for wind project off Taiwan

September 9 (Renewables Now) - Offshore installation contractor Jan De Nul Group has picked Tekmar Energy Ltd to be the cable protection system (CPS) supplier for the 109.2-MW Changhua offshore wind farm project in Taiwanese waters.

Specifically, Jan De Nul has ordered the latest TekLink Generation 8 CPS for all inter array and export cables, the bellmouth for the foundations and the hang-off systems. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

In April 2018, a consortium of Jan De Nul and Japanese group Hitachi Ltd (TYO:6501) was awarded a contract for the manufacturing and installation of 21 turbines of 5.2 MW off the coast of Fangyuan as part of the particular project, which is developed by Taiwan Power Company (TPC).

Tekmar is also working on several other adjacent offshore wind projects in Taiwan, including the Formosa 1 Phase 1 & 2.
