Swiss Axpo wants to pioneer in geothermal power in Switzerland
(ADPnews) - Dec 17, 2010 - Swiss power utility Axpo Holding said today it plans to put the foundations of geothermal power in Switzerland.
In the long-term, Axpo wants to operate own geothermal stations. For the purpose, the company has started to build its own competence centre in Glattbrugg.
Additionally, Axpo participates in a geothermal project in Taufkirchen, Germany. The participation will allow the company to build up its knowledge in the field and then use it for the construction of a geothermal power station in Switzerland.
According to Axpo, geothermal energy has the biggest potential in Switzerland after hydropower.
