Swiss Axpo gets building permission for wood-fired power plant

(SeeNews) – Sep 11, 2012 – The Swiss municipality of Kaiseraugst said today it granted permission to Swiss power utility Axpo Holding to build a wood-fired power plant for CHF 30 million (USD 31.8m/EUR 24.8m).

The plant will have a thermal capacity of 11 MW and will produce about 10 GWh of electricity annually.

The building permission is still not legally effective as project opponents can appeal the decision.

Axpo already revised the project in 2011 after a feedback by citizens and the municipality.
