May 24 (Renewables Now) - Taiwan-based chemical products maker Swancor Holding Co Ltd is working to secure contracts to supply wind turbine blade resins to Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) and MHI Vestas Offshore Wind AS.

The company is in talks with the offshore wind turbine makers, Swancor chairman Robert Tsai told an investors’ conference, as reported by Taipei Times on Wednesday. The Taiwanese government wants foreign wind energy firms to partner with domestic suppliers and blade resin is included in the local content plan, according to the report.

Siemens Gamesa has been selected to supply turbines for the 120-MW Formosa 1 Phase 2 wind project, while MHI Vestas Offshore Wind in March said it had signed preferred supplier agreements in Taiwan for projects totalling 1.5 GW.

Swancor is also preparing for more resin orders from Chinese wind turbine makers, including from Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Tech Co Ltd (HKG:2208).
