Suzlon gets 300-MW wind turbine order from Torrent Power

India’s Suzlon Ltd (BOM:532667) has received a 300-MW wind turbine supply order from Torrent Power Limited, a Torrent Group Company, for a multi-phase project in the state of Karnataka, it announced on Wednesday.

Suzlon said it will execute the project by providing land for it and supplying, erecting and commissioning 100 units of its new 3-MW Series turbine generators. In addition, the company will also provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services for the equipment.

The 300-MW wind farm is expected to be completed in 2025. “The electricity generated from this project will be used to power utilities in several states increasing the reach of renewable energy in the country,” commented JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon.

So far, Suzlon has obtained a total of six orders for its 3-MW machines and this latest one is the largest of them all. It is tied to Torrent Power’s winning bid in the SECI tranche XII auctions.

Just a couple of days earlier, the Indian company unveiled another order in Karnataka.
