January 21 (Renewables Now) - Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft AS announced today it will supply 3 TWh of renewable energy to Spanish energy firm Fortia Energia over a 10-year period.

Under the power purchase agreement (PPA), the Scandinavian company will utilise its Spanish wind and solar projects that are currently under construction. Fortia in turn will provide the clean energy to its customers, which are large industrial companies in the Iberian market.

The Norwegian group has recently closed several PPAs for fully merchant projects and schemes awarded in Spanish auctions.

Fortia manages the power supply of large industrial companies that are active in the steel, cement, metallurgy, chemical, paper and industrial gases sectors. The company has annual sales of roughly 11 TWh on average in the Iberian electricity market, according to the announcement.
