August 21 (Renewables Now) - Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft AS has taken over UK onshore wind developer Airvolution Clean Energy Ltd, with plans to double in size its Glasgow office.

The two companies have been working together since 2017, when Airvolution started identifying, securing and bringing forward project opportunities in Scotland exclusively for Statkraft. Following the acquisition, the Scottish firm’s team will move in-house.

“Bringing the team in-house is a natural progression of that partnership, significantly strengthening our ability to deliver against our ambitious targets for the UK,” said David Flood, managing director of Statkraft UK.

Statkraft noted that new recruits at Airvolution’s Glasgow office will begin work next month.

This latest acquisition comes after in early October 2018 Statkraft announced it had bought the Irish and UK onshore wind development operations of Element Power, including roughly 1,550 MW of projects.
