Norwegian state-owned energy company Statkraft AS has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Fortia Energia, a Spain-based energy platform representing large industry electricity consumers, for two wind farms with a combined capacity of 93 MW.
The two third-party wind parks in Castilla y León, in northwestern Spain, were recently hooked to the grid. They will power various industrial sites of Fortia clients, mainly in Andalusia and Catalonia, through 2029.
This is the second PPA between the companies. In January 2019, Statkraft and Fortia signed a 10-year contract for 3,000 GWh from wind and solar facilities in Spain.
"By signing this agreement with a large European company like Statkraft, we are helping to drive a more sustainable and resilient industrial model by providing our customers with a long-term, renewable and competitive supply of energy," Fortia chairwoman Blanca Losada commented.
