(ADPnews) - Nov 4, 2010 - SSE Generation Ltd, a subsidiary of Scottish and Southern Energy (LON:SSE) has inked a flexible service deal with US industrial major General Electric (NYSE:GE) regarding GE wind turbines operating across the UK and Ireland.
The company said yesterday that a fleet of 127 units of GE' wind turbines, with 1.5 MW each, will be technically supported allowing SSE the flexibility to customise technical support services on a site-by-site basis. Service scope will be split between GE and SSE's own teams depending upon the respective team's regional capability.
Under the deal, GE will utilise its technology for remote monitoring, troubleshooting and support as well as routine maintenance of the generators. In addition, SSE will capitalise on GE's wind turbine upgrades, parts and access to new training from GE's Energy Learning Centre.
At present, SSE possesses around 10.7 GW of electricity generation capacity, including more than 2.2 GW of renewable energy capacity.
