UK marine and engineering services firm SeaRoc Group said Friday it has won a five-year management support deal for ScottishPower Renewables’s (SPR) 714-MW East Anglia ONE project off the British east coast.
Construction is expected to begin next year.
The scope of the health, safety and quality (HSEQ) framework contract covers the provision of advice and support to the project during construction, and the development of management systems. SeaRoc will also provide training services.
“Delivering East Anglia ONE will be a major engineering challenge, involving up to 3,000 people working in a variety of locations,” ScottishPower Renewables’ project director, Charlie Jordan, said. Including this project, SeaRoc will have supported 29 offshore wind farms in the UK.
At end-April 2016, SPR, which is a subsidiary of Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE), agreed to use 102 units of 7-MW Siemens (ETR:SIE) turbines for East Anglia ONE. The German industrial group expects the first turbines to be installed in the summer of 2019, with the start of operation scheduled for 2020.
SPR made the final investment decision on East Anglia ONE in February. In addition to that project, it is also developing the up-to-1.2-GW East Anglia THREE and has plans to proceed with East Anglia TWO and East Anglia ONE North, each of up to 800 MW.
